Operating and maintaining multiple DFA Seller Central accounts is prohibited. is not connected in any way with

Misuse of the selling service:

If you upload excessive amounts of data repeatedly, or otherwise use the service in an excessive or unreasonable way, may in its sole discretion restrict or block your access to product feeds or any other functions that are being misused until you stop its misuse.

Misuse of ratings, feedback, or reviews:

Any attempt to manipulate ratings, feedback, or reviews is prohibited.

  • Ratings and feedback:The rating and feedback features allow buyers to evaluate the overall performance of a seller, helping sellers to develop a reputation within the Marketplace. You may not post abusive or inappropriate feedback or include personal information about a transaction partner. This also includes posting ratings or feedback to your own account. You may request feedback from a buyer, however you may not pay or offer any incentive to a buyer for either providing or removing feedback.
  • Reviews:Reviews are important to the DFA Marketplace, providing a forum for feedback about product and service details and reviewers’ experiences with products and services—positive or negative. You may not write reviews for products or services that you have a financial interest in, including reviews for products or services that you or your competitors sell. In addition, you may not make claims regarding a product’s best seller rank in the product detail page information, including the title and description.

Additional guidelines for sellers

The following guidelines apply to sellers of products:

Shipping Books, Music, Videos and DVD Products :

Books, Music, Video, and DVD products offered through must be shipped within two business days of the date the order confirmation is made available to you.

Post-transaction price manipulation and excessive shipping fees:

Any attempt to increase the sale price of an item after a transaction has been completed is prohibited. Additionally, sellers cannot set excessive order fulfillment and shipping costs.

Matching product offerings inaccurately:

When listing items for sale using an existing product detail page, the product being offered must be listed on a product detail page that accurately describes the product in all respects, including (but not limited to) the following attributes: manufacturer, edition, binding, version, format, or player compatibility. Sellers may not match their item to a detail page with a different ISBN, UPC, EAN, or other external identifier.

Exception: Club editions of audio CDs and rental editions of DVD and Blu-ray discs should be listed against the detail page for the standard edition of the CD, DVD, or Blu-ray, even if the UPCs of the two editions are different, if the following criteria are met:

  • The club or rental edition is listed in Used condition
  • The content on both editions is identical
  • A page with the UPC for the club or rental edition does not already exist in our catalog. Use the listing comments to indicate that the item is a club edition. Format of the products (CD, DVD, Blu-ray) must be identical.
  • Use the listing comments to indicate that the item is a club or rental edition.

Duplicate product detail pages:

Creating a product detail page for a product already in the catalog is prohibited.

Separate listings:

Sellers may not create separate listings for identical copies of the same item. Individually listing the same item several times is confusing for buyers and frustrating for other sellers. Sellers must use the quantity field to offer multiple copies of the same item, and only list separately if offering the same item in different conditions.

Pre-sells of BMVD Products: You should not list or match against Books, Music, Video, or DVD products that designates as pre-orderable. BMVD Products offered through must be shipped within 2 business days of the date the order confirmation is made available to you.

Additional guidelines for service providers

The following guidelines apply to service providers:

The service provider must perform the service as outlined in the scope of work on the service detail page on the date the service was purchased. The service provider may not solicit additional product, parts or service orders before, during or after the service call.

If the buyer requests services, parts, or products outside of the defined scope of work, then the service provider may fulfill that request and charge the buyer directly. is not connected in any way with

Unapproved technicians:

For in-home services, if you send a non-approved technician to fulfill a service order, your selling privileges may be removed

Customers first learn about your offers on a product detail page. The following policies have been established to ensure that each product detail page represents a unique item in order to deliver a single page per product and optimize the buying experience.

When you create a product detail page, you agree to the following rules and restrictions:

  • Using the Add a Product or bulk upload tools for any purpose other than listing products on is prohibited.
  • The use of false product identification information, including UPC codes, in product detail pages is prohibited.
  • The creation of product detail pages is limited to products that do not already exist within’s catalog. Creating a product detail page for a product already in the catalog is prohibited. This includes products listed on other websites, including but not limited to,,,,,, and
  • Using product detail pages to cross-merchandise or cross-promote a product is prohibited.
  • For Books, Music, Videos, and DVDs (BMVD) a single detail page may not be used to advertise more than one product. BMVD-only product bundles must be defined by the publisher or manufacturer and have a single ISBN, UPC, or EAN that is different from the product identifier for any unique item in the bundle.
  • Detail pages may not feature or contain Restricted Products.
  • All products listed on must meet North America product safety standards. Learn more about Choking Hazard Warning Requirements.

    • Reviews, quotes, or testimonials.
    • Solicitations for positive customer reviews.
    • Advertisements, promotional material, or watermarks on images, photos, or videos.
    • Time-sensitive information (i.e., dates of promotional tours, seminars, lectures, etc.).
  • If the category you are listing in gives you the option of supplying a List Price (or MSRP), you must represent the price at which substantial sales of the product in question are made by retailers, and you are responsible for ensuring that the List Prices you provide to us remain current. If you don’t have a List Price that meets these criteria, please leave the field blank.
  • When creating a listing or when matching a listing to an existing listing, sellers must follow listing standards for any product sold on
    • All products should be appropriately and accurately categorized.
    • Product titles, product descriptions, and bullets must be clearly written and should assist the customer in understanding the product.

Some categories have additional guidelines; the full set of category-specific style guidelines can be found at Inventory File Templates.

  • Product title length must not exceed a maximum of 200 characters (including spaces) in all categories. Some of the categories may have a different maximum title length than 200 characters. To know the accurate maximum title length for your respective category, please refer to your category-specific style guide.
  • All product images must meet com image standardsas well as any applicable category-specific image guidelines.
  • When creating a product detail page, provide only information that pertains to the features of the product in general, not the condition of your particular item. Product detail pages may be used by any other seller to list the same product. When listing an item for sale, sellers must use the offer listing pipeline. Within the offer listing pipeline, sellers are provided an opportunity to note their item’s condition, quantity, price, and other seller-specific details that are relevant to a specific listing.
  • Do not include HTML, DHTML, Java, scripts, or other types of executables in your detail pages.

Sellers can create bundles composed of different products to create a new bundled product. Well-designed product bundles provide convenience and value to buyers. Adhering to the policies on this page will help customers locate product bundles more easily and prevent duplicate or near-duplicate listings. is not connected in any way with

General Bundle Policy

  • You may not list bundled products where the primary product in the bundle is from the Video Games category or is a Books, Music, Video, or DVD (BMVD) product.
  • You may include BMVD and Video Games items as secondary products in a bundle if they are related and complementary to the primary product in the bundle. For example, you can list a bundle composed of a yoga mat (the primary product), a yoga DVD, and a yoga book.
  • The referral fee for the primary product’s category (the same category used to list the product) applies to the entire bundle.
  • All products in bundles must comply with’s product listing policies.
  • Bundle images, features, and descriptions must also adhere to listing policies.
  • Failure to adhere to the Bundle Policy, including the following Detailed Bundle Guidelines, may result in the removal without notice of any bundled product listing, account suspension, or both. reserves the right to modify or revoke this policy at any time.

Detailed Bundle Guidelines

Bundle Listing and Categorization:

  • Bundles must consist of items that are highly complementary (this means items in the bundle enable or enhance the use of other items in the bundle or provide convenience to the buyer by purchasing them together) .
  • Bundles consist of multiple single items that can each be identified by a unique ASIN/UPC and are sold together as a single offering. A pre-packaged kit or pack with multiple items that is identified by a single ASIN/UPC is not considered a bundle.
  • A bundle may be listed in a single category only, even if the products comprising the bundle are from multiple categories. If a bundle includes products from multiple categories, it may be listed only in the category of the highest priced item in the bundle. The only exception to this guideline is if the highest priced item is BMVD or Video Games (because bundles may not be listed in these categories). In these cases, the bundle should be listed in the category with the second highest prices item that is not BMVD or Video Games.
  • The bundle must have its own standard product identifier or manufacturer part number. The identifier of any individual product in the bundle may not serve as the identifier for the bundle. Using a UPC from any single product in the bundle to identify the entire bundle may lead to immediate removal of the listing. You are responsible for obtaining a UPC for each bundle you create.
  • Do not include generic products in a bundle, as it may mislead customers into thinking the generic product belongs to the same brand as one of the branded products in the bundle. Generic products are identified as items with no brand whatsoever on the product or packaging (not just widely unrecognized brands).
  • If an item is a multi-pack, such as six pairs of socks, list it as a single product and not as a bundle. See UPCs and Item Package Quantity for Multi-Packs.
  • If an item is a variation of a parent product, list it as a variation within the parent product’s family and not as a bundle. See Creating Parent/Child Variation Relationships.
  • If you match your bundle to an existing bundle listing, the products in your bundle must be exactly the same as the products in the existing bundle in every respect. If your bundle is different in any way, you must create a new bundle listing. You may not change the existing listing to align to the specifications of your new bundle.
  • Once you create a bundle, you may not modify the components of that bundle. If you want to add or remove products from the bundle, you must create a new bundle listing with a unique UPC or match to an existing bundle listing that is identical to your revised bundle.

Bundle Warranties and Returns:

  • If you list a product bundle, you must accept the entire bundle as a return and refund it as a single unit.
  • A bundle cannot contain any separate warranty products or extended service plans.
  • is not connected in any way with

Bundle Titles:

  • Bundle title length should align to title length rules in’s listing policy. This policy allows listings with a title length of maximum 200 characters (including spaces) in all U.S. categories.
  • Include the word “Bundle” and the number of items in the bundle in the product title. For example:

Bundle – 3 items: Tote Bag, Knit Scarf and Gloves – Blue

  • If the bundle includes only a few items, list them in the title. For example:

[Main Product title] + “Bundle with” + [Bundle Component Product title(s)]

Canon EasyShare Digital Camera Bundle with Rechargeable Batteries & Carrying Case – Black

  • If the bundle includes many items, list the primary and secondary items in the title, along with the total number of items in the bundle. In these cases, the entire bundle component information must be listed in the bullet points within the bundle details.

[Main Product title] + “Bundle with” + [Bundle Component Summary] + “(# Items)”

Gibson PAC112J Sunburst Guitar Bundle with Bag, Stand and Accessories (11 Items)

Bundle Product Details and Images:

  • Feature Bullet 1 in the detail page for your bundle must state that the product is a bundle of “X” number of items and must identify the products in the bundle.
  • The description in the detail page for your bundle must state that the product is a bundle and must also identify the products in the bundle (with appropriate designators, such as model number, color, and size).
  • The main image for the bundle must include the specific products in the bundle (and must not include any items that are excluded from the bundle). Images of representative or similar products are not permitted. is not connected in any way with

Selling Textbooks

When selling textbooks, it is important to understand the treatment of different editions, including previous editions, teacher editions, and international editions.

When listing your textbook on our site, the ISBN of your book must match exactly the ISBN on the book’s detail page. International editions of textbooks must be listed against separate ASINs from the domestic product. (See Selling International Media Products.)

If the ISBN is not the same as the one on the detail page, you will be listing the wrong edition or cover-type of your book, even if the title and author matches. The ISBN, author, title, binding, publisher and date of publication must match the information on the product page or you may not list the textbook on that ISBN/ASIN.

Prohibited Textbook Items

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with these descriptions of prohibited textbook items:

  • Edition Matched to the Incorrect ISBN:  Listing inaccurate or incorrect book information or descriptions (including ISBNs) resulting in misrepresentation of the textbook.  Examples include:
    • Wrong Edition:  The book titles may match but not necessarily be the same edition.  If the ISBN on the textbook does not match the ISBN on the detail page, you may not list the textbook against that detail page.
    • Incorrect Cover-Type:  It is inappropriate to sell a softcover book against a hardcover textbook detail page or vice versa.
    • Copied/Unauthorized Material:   You may not sell .pdf, scanned, photo-copied or otherwise unauthorized content as textbooks.
  • Promotional Instructor’s Editions:  Promotional copies of all media including books, music, and videos are prohibited.  Typically promotional textbooks contain content that is identical to the Student Edition. The only difference will be markings or stamps displayed on the front or back cover, such as “Complimentary Copy,” “Free Copy,” “Instructor’s Edition,” or “Not for Sale.”  Do not list these items on
  • Teacher’s Editions and Annotated Instructor’s Editions: Teacher’s Editions are textbooks targeted to the teaching community.  Annotated Instructor’s Editions usually contain answers and/or instructor’s notes added to the student edition of the book.  In most cases, Teacher’s Editions and Annotated Instructor’s Editions are NOT intended for public sale and may not be listed for sale on  In a small number of cases, publishers intend certain titles to be available for public sale for self-teaching or homeschooling purposes.  In general, if is selling a Teacher’s Edition, it should be permissible for you to also sell that same Teacher’s Edition. Otherwise, do not list these items on
  • Solutions Manuals:  Most Solutions Manuals are sold as supplements to a textbook and typically provide answers and descriptions to problems related to the textbook.  Solutions Manuals that are intended for students may be sold on  Solutions Manuals that are NOT intended for students or for public sale may not be listed for sale on

Frequently Asked Questions

Previously I wasn’t allowed to list “New” condition international media products. Can I list them in “New” condition now?

The international version of the product I want to list is identical to the domestic version in all respects. Can I list it against the domestic ASIN?
No. We require international versions to be listed against separate ASINs from the domestic product in all cases.

Why can’t I list an international version of a product against the domestic ASIN?

Yes. However, this must be disclosed clearly in the condition notes. Please ensure that when you create the listing you are including the appropriate disclosure that the digital content will be inaccessible.

Is it legal to sell an international version of a product?
The offering or sale of an international edition of a book, CD, DVD/Blu-ray disc, or video game in the US may not infringe a rights owner’s copyright. However, it is the seller’s obligation to determine whether its products can be legally sold.

  • Sellers may offer custom bundles of ink or toner cartridges (that are not manufacturer-created multipacks), provided each individual cartridge in the bundle is in its original retail packaging. A custom bundle must be listed as its own ASIN, with image, bullet points and product description clearly indicating that it comprises individual packs bundled together. • All major brands require UPCs. See Product UPCs and GTINsfor further details, which includes requirements for products sold as bundles and requirements for products sold as packs.
  • Best Before, Use Before, Use By, and Warranty Ends are all considered expiration dates. Expiration dates are the dates suggested by the manufacturer, and are printed on the product packaging, the product, or both. The expiration date printed by the manufacturer should be clearly visible when the product is shipped. Ink or toner, if they have an expiration date suggested by the manufacturer, should only be shipped to customers when the ink or toner is at least 180 days prior to the date of expiration. If you think a seller is offering an item different than advertised, please contact our Seller Performance Team. Please do not use the terms “trademark” or “copyright” in reports regarding products that are different from the detail page as this may cause a delay in the resolution of your report.

To facilitate an investigation, be sure you include the following information in your complaint, as applicable:

Drop Shipping Policy

Drop shipping, or allowing a third party to fulfill orders to customers on your behalf, is generally acceptable. If you intend to fulfill orders using a drop shipper, you must always:

  • Be the seller of record of your products;
  • Identify yourself as the seller of your products on all packing slips and other information included or provided in connection with them;
  • Be responsible for accepting and processing customer returns of your products; and
  • Comply with all other terms of your seller agreement and applicable policies.

Examples of drop shipping that is not permitted:

  • Purchasing products from another online retailer and having that retailer ship directly to customers; or
  • Shipping orders with packing slips, invoices, or other information indicating a seller name or contact information other than your own.

Failure to comply with these requirements may result in the suspension or removal of your selling privileges. is not connected in any way with

ASIN Creation Policy

To sell a product that is available in the catalog, you need to match it to the existing ASIN. However, if your product is not in the catalog, you will have to create a new ASIN.

To protect the onsite shopping experience for our customers, we limit the number of ASINs you can create in a given week until you establish a sales history with As you increase your sales, your capacity will increase. We encourage you to prioritize the products you are listing to increase your sales quickly.

Additionally, if you are an established seller and have created a high number of new ASINs, we reserve the right to temporarily remove your ability to create new ASINs. If your ability to create new ASINs has been removed, you can continue to match your products against existing ASINs. We will reevaluate your status on a monthly basis.

Matching your products to existing products in the catalog helps drive a high-quality customer experience. Matching to an existing product instead of creating a duplicate listing allows you to more fully benefit from buyer interest and traffic for that product.

Creating a duplicate ASIN (that is, creating a new ASIN for a product that already exists in the catalog) is prohibited and can result in your ASIN creation or selling privileges being temporarily suspended or permanently removed.

The following prohibited practices are a misuse of variations (also known as parent-child relationships). They create a negative customer experience and can result in your ASIN creation or selling privileges being temporarily or permanently removed:

  • Adding children that are not true variations of the parent product.
  • Changing the parent product’s detail page so it does not match the children.
  • Adding multi-pack children by bundling two or more of the same manufacturer products, such as bundling two three-packs to create a package quantity of six. Multi-pack children must be packaged by the manufacturer. If a customer wants to buy two or more of the same product, they can select that quantity for purchase.

How are duplicates created?

Duplicates are most commonly created when one or more of the following happens:

  • You incorrectly use the UPC, EAN, ISBN, ASIN, or JAN code from another product to identify your product.
  • You are a Brand Registry seller using an alternative key attribute to list your products. If you use multiple key attribute values to list the same product, a new ASIN will be created for each key attribute value.
  • You have received a UPC exemption for a product that has a UPC. Listing it with no identifier will create a duplicate. is not connected in any way with
